OGT stands for Oxidized Glycerol Triesters, the active ingredient in Aquoral. In simple terms, OGT is oxygenated corn oil. Along with creating a protective layer that helps trap moisture in the oral mucosa, OGT has been shown to promote the good bacteria that help fight gingivitis, a risk factor for heart disease.

Aquoral is a non-toxic, gluten-free, non-controlled substance. Unlike most over-the-counter dry mouth products, Aquoral went through the rigorous FDA approval process, submitting the efficacy and safety data required to achieve prescription status. Based on our clinical data, Aquoral can treat moderate to severe dry mouth which is often associated with serious medical conditions, such as Sjogren’s disease, cancer treatments, or diabetes, and when left untreated can lead to far worse problems. Having a prescription ensures patients discuss their dry mouth with a physician and take the proper steps to ensure they follow a proper oral hygiene regimen.

Aquoral has a neutral Ph of 7, similar to water. Many other dry mouth products are acidic with a Ph in 4-6 range. Understanding the acidity of a product and the effects that acidity has on the oral microbiome is important for patients to understand. An unbalanced oral microbiome, dry mouth notwithstanding, can increase the chances of tooth decay and dental carries.

Aquoral can be prescribed like any other prescription medication. A physician, dentist, or other licensed prescriber can provide a prescription to a pharmacy via the e-prescription software they commonly use. A prescription can also be sent to the pharmacy by a licensed prescriber using our convenient fax form or by phone. Please refer to our Prescriber Information for details.

Currently, K Pharmaceuticals does not have a formal program for providing prescribers with samples for patients. However, if you are a healthcare professional interested in trying Aquoral with your patients, please contact us at info@kpharmaceutical.com.

Currently, Aquoral is exclusively available through Transition Pharmacy Services (TPS), our direct mail pharmacy. The patient experience is simple: TPS will contact the patient within 24 hours of receiving a prescription. Payment will be collected over the phone, and the Aquoral will be delivered within 3-5 business days. We recommend providing patients with our Patient Tear Sheet to help them understand the filling process.

TPS is the preferred direct mail pharmacy for K Pharmaceuticals. Their dedicated service personnel include live pharmacists who reach out to patients to ensure all their questions are answered. While TPS typically initiates contact with the patient via phone or text, they are also available to field calls from proactive patients to expedite prescription filling.

In addition to standard prescription information like name, date of birth, medical conditions, and other medications, it’s valuable to provide the patient’s cell phone number (not just a landline). This allows for communication via text messages, enhancing the patient experience.

Aquoral is priced at $83 for a one-month supply or $199 for a three-month supply. Coupons are available for patients who enroll in our survey or testimonial program. For more details, please inquire at info@kpharmaceutical.com.

Currently, Aquoral is not covered by most insurance companies. However, the price of $83 for a one-month supply of Aquoral is similar to the copay charged by most insurance companies for similar products. Aquoral is also competitively priced when compared to a month’s supply of over-the-counter products when used as directed for the same duration.

Aquoral’s formulation provides long-lasting relief. Finally, a solution that lubricates AND forms a protective layer that keeps moisture in the oral cavity.

Delivering sustainable relief for up to 6 hours.

Provides Relief

Most saliva substitutes hydrate and lubricate the oral mucosa providing temporary relief of Dry Mouth.

Aquoral’s OGT formulation creates a protective shield which, when used alone or combined with other Dry Mouth treatments, can lock in moisture, and enhance effectiveness.

What is Dry Mouth?

In most cases, patients’ daily lives and oral health can be significantly compromised if their Dry Mouth is not discovered early and managed effectively. It can be caused or exacerbated by more than 700 medications, both over-the-counter and prescription. Patients with certain health conditions or medical treatments, such as Sjögren’s disease or head and neck cancer therapy often experience Dry Mouth.

Despite being a common medical condition, the signs and symptoms may go unnoticed in a routine oral exam. It has been reported that the incidence of Dry Mouth in the general population is as high as 65 percent.
